OUR BOARD MEMBERS

 

ROBERT SHAW

Chair & Treasurer

Robert (a.k.a. Bob) has attended Greelane Christian Centre since 1997; he and Susan are fully committed participants of Greenlane Christian Centre and have been blessed by the teaching, the diverse make-up of the church community and the opportunities to actively serve. Bob and Susan have three adult children involved in various churches around Auckland. Bob joined the Greenlane Christian Fellowship Trust Board (GCFTB) in 2010, and since 2012 has been the Chair of the Greenlane Care Education Trust (GCET) which focuses on the Greenlane Christian Centre CAP ministry (Debt Care; Job Club; Lifeskills and CAP Money) and a counselling collective. Also, Bob has since 2014 fulfilled the Board Treasurer role. As a couple, Bob and Susan co-ordinate the ushering, greeting and communion volunteer teams. 

 

Bob has extensive international company directorship and management experience together with senior global sales roles.

 

JOHN CLEARY

Secretary

John Cleary and his family began worshipping at Greenlane Christian Centre in January 2000, when they moved from Australia to NZ for him to take up a role of CEO of Chubb New Zealand. Since then they have been involved in cell group leadership and membership, men’s ministry, senior ushering and pre marriage counselling with his wife, Vicky. He spent 18 months running the operation and administration side of Greenlane Christian Centre full time.

 

His governance experience includes chairing Christian school P & Fs, directorships of a number of businesses, chair of an industry training advisory board, and previous church board involvement. He holds a degree in electrical engineering a post graduate qualification in business and administration and a masters in organisational leadership. His desire is to see Greenlane Christian Centre more active in growing and supporting the body of Christ and bringing light into the community through it.

 

ALISHA JACKSON

Trustee

Alisha started attending Greenlane Christian Centre in 2001 after moving from Tauranga to Auckland to study at the University of Auckland. She is married to Lindon, and has two children, Olivia (6yrs) and Daniel (4yrs). 

 

She has practised as a corporate commercial solicitor, and currently works as an Associate Content Developer at ComplyWith NZ Ltd, a company providing legal compliance solutions for NZ businesses. 

 

Since 2001, Alisha has been involved in various aspects of youth ministry at the church as a volunteer, including Mania, Blueprint (now Youth) and Knee High Army (now Kidspace Preschool). She has been a Greenlane Christian Fellowship Trust Board member since 2015 and appreciates all the opportunities that Greenlane Christian Centre provides to get involved, and connect with other people in the church and community.

PHILLIPA BATTS

Trustee

Phillipa has been a Trustee since 2014. She and her husband Campbell and her three sons, Nathan, William and Tom, began attending Greenlane Christian Centre in 2002. Since then, their family has grown, with two amazing daughters-in-law, Emma and Lydia and three grandchildren, Emilia, Noah and Lucy.

Originally trained as a Nurse and working in the Operating Theatres at Auckland Hospital and in London, Phillipa returned to University in 2003 to pursue studies in Sport & Recreation majoring in Physical Activity and Nutrition, a life-long passion. In 2016 she completed a Post-graduate Diploma in Health Science and since 2010 has been the Operations Manager of a community exercise and wellness initiative for older people developed in AUT’s School of Sport & Recreation, called “never2old”. She is part of the management team for the University’s three on-campus gym facilities.

Favourite things to do in her down time include spending time with the family, getting out into the great outdoors and reading.

 

WINSTON SEAH

Trustee

Winston grew up with Christian values instilled by his strong Christian mother,
and attended children and youth fellowship groups in Galilee Bible-Presbyterian Church intermittently between 1982 to 1997 amidst non-Christian families typical in Singapore in the 70s.

Inspired by God’s grace and his own father coming to Christ, Winston accepted Christ as his personal Saviour in 2002. Winston became a reactive Christian when working in Hong Kong and Tokyo from 2003 to mid-2015, before moving to Auckland. God planted him close Ps Mike Porteous (his neighbour), and that led him to Greenlane Christian Centre in 2016.

Winston is married to Sandy, and has a daughter, Isabel who attends our Kidspace Primary programme. He joins our board with sound financial expertise, having worked in the financial services industry as an auditor along with other different roles in various global investment banks.

 
 

sandra hewlett

Trustee

Sandra is a commercially savvy change and organizational development professional with practical line management experience. She is particularly interested in

· the role leaders play in building engagement and developing culture
· developing peoples’ strengths so they can reach their potential and contribute to the achievement of organisational goals
· good change management

She is currently employed as People Excellence Manager for the Customer Services division of Auckland Council. Before joining the Council, Sandra spent approximately 13 years as a self-employed consultant/contractor across a range of HR related projects. Some of her clients include Air NZ, Westpac, Beca, Fonterra, Sanford and ASB.

Prior to that she spent four years (2001 – 2005) as Head Of Learning and Development for the ASB Bank, four years working in Australia for AGC Finance (1997- 2001).

STEPHEN MARSHALL

Trustee

Stephen grew up in a Christian home in Palmerston North, and has always had a love for adventuring and challenging himself.

He graduated from Massey University with a Bachelor of Business Studies before moving to Auckland in 2016 to join Vodafone NZ in their Future Leaders Graduate Programme. Stephen is currently working for Vodafone as a Government Account Manager, helping businesses on their transformation and technological journeys.

While in university, church and Vodafone, Stephen has had experience in leading and challenging the way people think and operate, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas. He has a passion for helping people achieve to the best of their ability in all areas of life.

Stephen has attended Greenlane Christian Centre for three years since the move to Auckland, and in 2019 he has stepped into the Young Adults leadership team and is excited to see what God is doing in this space.
